The Camp is $125 for a 4 day course to coach kids from ages 8-14 on how to properly sail a boat around a course.

It’s here! The National Sailing Club is officially open!
The goal for our sailing camp is to coach kids from ages 8-14 on how to properly sail a boat around a course.
The Camp is a 4 day course.
The classes will be held Oct 25th – 28th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. During which, sailors will learn the basics of sailing from Monday-Thursday, then have a sailing parade around the lagoon Thursday evening for parents and spectators to watch. No sailing experience is needed and sailboats as well as life jackets will be provided.

Equipment needed for camp:

  • Sunscreen
  • Water bottle
  • Shoes (anything from sandals to tennis shoes)
  • Snacks
  • Sunglasses
  • A swimsuit isn’t necessary but can be worn

Rules for dropping off your sailor(s)

Parents, you can drop your kids off at the National sailing club. When you arrive at the Lagoon follow the signage to the National sailing club entrance. Please walk them in on the first day, Monday, to make sure that they are checked in. For Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, you can drop them off at the gate. Make sure they get through. Remember to be back at least 15 minutes before 7pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Please be here for the parade well in advance of 6pm on Thursday evening. Thanks!

Lagoon Sailing Camp Schedule

Monday, Oct. 25th

5:00pm – 5:10pm – Coaches meet with parents and sailors to formally greet.
5:10pm – 5:20pm – Name game with coaches and sailors.
5:20pm – 6:00pm – Split into 2 groups. One group of 4 on the boats and the other 6 on land learning terminology and knots of sailing. Land group and boat group will be swapping sailors in and out based on skill progression.
6:00pm – 6:10pm – Snack break/ reapply sunscreen and hydrate.
6:10pm – 6:50pm – Continue with land and boat drills still switching sailors between sailing and land drills based on skill progression.
6:50pm – 7:00pm – Debrief with all sailors to talk about how the practice went

Tuesday, Oct. 26th

5:00pm – 5:15pm – Welcome & briefing.
5:15pm – 6:00pm – Split into 2 groups. One group of 4 on the boats and the other 6 on land learning terminology and knots of sailing. Land group and boat group will be swapping sailors in and out based on skill progression.
6:00pm – 6:10pm – Snack break/ reapply sunscreen and hydrate.
6:10pm – 6:50pm – Continue with land and boat drills still switching sailors between sailing and land drills based on skill progression.
6:50pm – 7:00pm – Debrief with sailors to talk about how the day went.

Wednesday, Oct. 27th

Thursday (Parade day), Oct. 28th

5:00pm – 5:15pm – Talk about the parade with sailors and parents about where the parade will happen, at what time time and where a good spot to watch for parents would be.
5:15pm – 5:50pm – Practice with all sailors around the parade course to warm up for the day.
5:50pm – 6:00pm – Prepare for parade with sailors.
6:00pm – 7:00pmParade – 3 sailors will be put on each boat and start to sail around the course set up for them. The other 4 sailors we could possibly put in a kayak or paddle Board to have something to do. First group will go for 30 minutes and then switch at 6:30 with the 4 who have not yet sailed. The second group will go out from 6:30-7:00 to take their turn. Coaches will be on standby with e-boards to help sailors with any problems that could arise.
This camp is open to everyone. The first 10 parents to sign up their child will be enrolled.
