Second generation captain. I spent my early years on the shores of Lake Huron in Port Huron, Michigan. I've always had a love for the water. It started at a young age working with my grandfather on his charter fishing boat. That's where I developed my passion for boating and watersports. Over the years I've spent the majority of my time charter fishing in the Gulf of Mexico out of Galveston, Texas. I'm proud to be partnered with the National Sailing Club to have the best water sports experience in the nation.
I have 15 years of sailing experience, 12 of which I have competitively raced sailboats. I started sailing in the optimist when I was 8 because I wanted to be a pirate, like captain Jack Sparrow. From there I raced double handed dinghy boats along with keelboats until I eventually reached college where I competed in FJs and 420s almost year round. The FJs and 420s are very similar to the RS Zest that we provide here at the lagoon and I feel more than comfortable sailing the RS Zest. I love introducing people to the sport of sailing and would love to take you for a sail out on our beautiful lagoon.
My name is Ty Bugo and I am the 5 star director of concierge at the National Sailing Club at Lago Mar. I was born and raised in Galveston Island and grew up only 2 blocks away from the seawall. Water and watersports have always been a passion of mine and I look forward to helping you find and enjoy the watercraft experience that would best fit you. I can't wait to see you here!
